3. Preparing for Holy Communion: It is good and right to always be prepared to receive Holy Communion. To do this, please allow a moment before the singing of the communion hymns while the organist plays a musical arrangement to pray. Prayers are located in the front cover and back cover of your hymnal for such purposes. Please note that while the bread is served on both sides, the individual cup is only served on the lectern (left) side and the communion cup is served only on the pulpit (right) side. Regardless of where you are sitting, once dismissed, you may cross over according to your desires.
4. Holy Communion Procedures: Starting next Sunday, January 15th, we will offer both individual cup and the common cup on both sides. Because of this it will not be necessary for people to have to cross over.
5. C. F. W. Walther: During four Sundays in January and one in February, St. Paul will be offering an education program on Pastor C. F. W. Walther and the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod at 2 PM. The first Sunday, which will be today, Sunday January 8, we will meet from 2 to 4 at the fellowship hall of the church for the main feature film. After that we will meet from 2 to 3 on the other Sundays. Everyone is welcome. If you wish, you may bring a guest.
6. Church Council and Quarterly Voter’s Meeting: The church council will meet this Wednesday, January 11 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Reminder to the new board chairpersons, that this will be a meeting you have the opportunity to attend. The first quarterly voters meeting for 2012 will be Sunday, January 22 following our Divine Service.
7. Offering Envelopes: You may pick up your 2012 offerings in the parish hall.
8. Women’s Bible study: If you’d like to start the new year with a women’s Bible study from 9:30-10:30 on two Wednesday mornings a month, you are welcome to join us. We meet in the old basement across from the quilting room. We are continuing our walk through the Bible and will begin First Timothy on January 11.
9. Cotta Guild will meet Thursday, January 12, at 6:00 PM for a potluck. Members are encouraged to bring a friend or a spouse. Each circle is to decorate a table for 12 people.
