4. Preparing for Holy Communion: It is good and right to always be prepared to receive Holy Communion. To do this, please allow a moment before the singing of the communion hymns while the organist plays a musical arrangement to pray. Prayers are located in the front cover and back cover of your hymnal for such purposes. Starting today, Sunday, January 15th, we will offer both individual cup and the common cup on both sides. Because of this it will not be necessary for people to have to cross over. Everything else will stay the same.
5. Sunday School: Today in Sunday School we study the calling of Jesus’ first disciples with “Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael.” In Jesus, access to heaven is given to all who believe. You might discuss, “How did Philip and Nathanael know that Jesus was the Christ? How do we learn that Jesus is the Christ?”
6. C. F. W. Walther: During four Sundays in January and one in February, St. Paul will be offering an education program on Pastor C. F. W. Walther and the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod at 2 PM. Today, Sunday January 15, we will meet from 2 to 3 at the fellowship hall of the church for the main feature film. Everyone is welcome. If you wish, you may bring a guest.
7. Quarterly Voter’s Meeting: The first quarterly voters meeting for 2012 will be Sunday, January 22 following our Divine Service.
8. Offering Envelopes: You may pick up your 2012 offerings in the back of the church.
9. Neighborhood Service Center: The Neighborhood Service Center accepts donations of non-perishable items (canned and boxed food). Donations of these items can be left in the boxes on the 2nd floor landing of church near the elevator. The Board of Stewardship will deliver these items to the Neighborhood Service Center. Thank you for your donations.
10. Annual Report: Items for the annual report are due in the church office by Monday, January 15th.
