2.  Lutheran Hour:  The Lutheran Hour can be heard on radio stations KJLY, Blue Earth, 104.5 FM, Sunday, 6:00 PM and KDHL, Faribault, 920 AM, Sunday, 6:00 PM.

 

3. Preparing for Holy Communion:  It is good and right to always be prepared to receive Holy Communion. To do this, please allow a moment before the singing of the communion hymns while the organist plays a musical arrangement to pray. Prayers are located in the front cover and back cover of your hymnal for such purposes. We are now offering both individual cup and the common cup on both sides.  Because of this it will not be necessary for people to have to cross over.  Everything else will stay the same.

 

4.  Sunday School: Today in Sunday School, we study “Jesus Reinstates Peter.” We are all like Peter in our words and actions, denying our Lord and weeping bitterly over what we have done. We are in need of the same comfort that Peter received—the comfort of sins forgiven and the assurance that even though we are faithless, Jesus will remain faithful. You might discuss, “How did Peter express his sorrow and repentance? What specific directions did Jesus give to Peter?”

 

5.  Quarterly Voters Meeting:   The Quarterly Voters Meeting will meet Sunday, April 22nd following the Divine Worship Service.  The only item on the agenda would be Board Reports.

 

6. The Special Voters Call Meeting: The following list are the names of the candidates for the next pastor here at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Scott S. Hirssig, Rev. Gary H. Klatt, Rev. Daniel B. Quinn, Rev. Dean F. Rothchild

The special voters call meeting will be Sunday, April 22 beginning at 1:00 p.m.  At this meeting we will be voting for our next pastor.

 

7.  Lutheran Witness:  It is time once again to either renew or subscribe to the Lutheran Witness Magazine.  The price is $18.57 per year and must be paid to the church office by Sunday, May 13.

 

8.  Parish Paper: The deadline for the May newsletter is Friday, April 20th.

 

9.  29 er’s catered meal at noon on April 25:  April’s meal for 29 er’s will be a catered meal of chicken salad sandwich with a salad and dessert.  The price is $6.00 and please sign up by calling either Inez Meyer at 835-3370 or May Hoelmer at 835-2366 by April 22nd.

 

10.   Those of you who have Secret Sisters and Secret Brothers, please send them a card with a note/a devotion/Bible verse this month, and pray for them throughout the month also.

 

11.  “Take Time” A Book of Meditations:  These books are available for sale in the church office.  This book is written by Rev. Raymond Harms and the price is $29.99.  The checks may be made out to Take Time or Rev. Raymond Harms.

 

12.Cannon Valley Lutheran High School:  Spring Concert: Come enjoy a Sunday afternoon concert, listening to the music performed by the CVLHS band, choir, and tone chime choir. The concert will be Sunday, April 22nd at 3:00pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown. Refreshments will follow the concert. Everyone is welcome.

 

13. Spring Flower Sales: CVLHS students are again selling geraniums and impatiens. Please contact a student or the school office at 685-2636 if you’d like to order.

Sunday School: On this Passion Sunday, the Sunday School lesson studies “Peter Denies Jesus.” Though we, like Peter, deny Jesus and His gifts, Jesus cannot deny us, because we are part of Him, baptized members of His own Body. Instead, He forgives us and welcomes us back. Consider asking, “How does Peter’s denial affect him? In what ways does God forgive us and welcome us back?”

6.  Mentoring Rap Up Supper:  Wednesday, April 4th beginning at 5:30 p.m.  there will be a rap up with all who participated in the Mentoring program this year.  Students, mentors, parents are all invited to have pizza and discuss the pros and cons of the program.

 

7.  Easter Breakfast:  Everyone is invited to the annual Easter Breakfast put on by the Board of Education.  Ham and eggs will be served from 7:30 -8:45 a.m. on Easter morning which is next Sunday, April 8th.

 

8.  Offering Envelopes:  This is another gentle reminder that the counting committee would appreciate that you would write the amount of your offering on your envelope.  Thank you for taking time to do this.

Some library books with the message of Lent are Sounds of the Passion:  Meditations on Jesus’ Journey to the Cross (call number: 5-Owe) and The Man of Sorrows:  A Book of Lenten Devotions on the Passion of the Lord (call number: 5-Ste).

 

12.  Easter Sunday Dinner:  The Waseca Ministerium will again sponsor an Easter Sunday Dinner for elderly persons and others who will be alone on the holiday.  The dinner will be held at 12:00 noon Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Waseca Senior Center.  Reservations can be made by calling the center at 835-4552 by noon on Thursday, April 5th.  A free will donation will be gratefully accepted.  Take-out delivery (4 meal limit) is also available by calling the center by Thursday.  This is being hosted by Christ Community Church.

4. Sunday School: The Sunday School lesson today focuses on “Jesus and Zacchaeus.” Like Zacchaeus, we are among the lost whom the Son of Man seeks and forgives. We are called to forgive those who sin against us, no matter how Zacchaeus-like they may be in their sins. Parents might ask, “How does Jesus seek you? How has God forgiven you?”

 

5.  Thank you:  Thank you to the family of Vera Mittelstaedt for the gift of the Chalice that we use for the common cup for wine at the Lord’s Supper.  We just received it and have started  to use it now.  The other one actually wore out and we are so thankful the family could purchase one for us.

 

6.  Update from Call Committee: St. Paul Congregation has called Rev. Adam C. Gless, of Zion Lutheran, Mayer, MN, to be our pastor.  Keep Pastor Gless and his congregation in your prayers.  Pray that the Lord’s will be done in this matter for our congregation.

 

7.  Lenten Supper:  The next Lenten Supper will be hosted by the youth and serving time is from 4:30 -5:45 p.m.  The menu will be goulash and cheddar biscuits.

 

8.  29er’s Potluck:  You all are invited to attend the 29 er’s potluck meal on Wednesday, March 28th beginning at noon.

Applications will be accepted until March 30th for congregation members, family and friends. If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Donna Lines at Little Lambs at 833-0051 for an application and interview.

Since we will have a lapse from the time Brooke leaves and a new employee starts, we are looking for individuals to volunteer a few hours to help the daycare during this transition. If you are interested, feel free to call Donna at Little Lambs or a member of the Little Lambs Board. Thank you.

5. Sunday School: “The Widow’s Mite” serves as the focus of the Sunday School lesson for today. Just as the widow gave all she had to God, trusting Him to provide and care for her, so Jesus gave His all for us, who fail to trust in God for all things. Consider discussing, “How was the widow’s offering different from the others? How has God given us His greatest treasure?”

6.  Update from Call Committee: St. Paul Congregation has called Rev. Adam C. Gless, of Zion Lutheran, Mayer, MN, to be our pastor.  Keep Pastor Gless and his congregation in your prayers.  Pray that the Lord’s will be done in this matter for our congregation.

7.  Pastor Gless:  Pastor Gless has requested a meeting with all our congregational members today, Sunday, March 18, at 2:30 p.m.  The congregation will be asked about present and future challenges and the role of the pastoral office. He will then meet with the Church Council at 3:30 and the Elders at 4:15.  This is an opportunity for Pastor Gless to tour the facility and ask questions of the various groups.  Your attendance at these meetings will be appreciated.

8.  Lenten Supper:  The next Lenten Supper  will be hosted by the Little Lambs Childcare Board and serving time is from 4:30 -5:45 p.m.  The menu will be spaghetti with meat sauce or chicken alfredo sauce, bread, bars, and beverage.

14.  Trinity Lutheran School-Janesville hosting Kindergarten Roundup:  TLS-Janesville is hosting its 2012-2013 Kindergarten Roundup on Thursday, March 22nd.  The Roundup will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the school, located at 501 North Main St. Parents and their prospective kindergarten students will have an opportunity to hear information and ask questions about the program and the school.  For more information, call 507-231-6646.

15.  CVLHS Benefit Dinner…The 9th Annual Benefit Dinner will be Sunday, March 25th in the Trinity, Faribault gymnasium. Social hour begins at 4:00 pm, a pork roast dinner will be served at 5:00. Christopher and Brenda Atzinger will provide piano and vocal entertainment. The $50.00/plate donation will benefit CVLHS. Your continued support is appreciated.
